WHAT WE USE AND HOW MUCH IT COSTS

Over the years we have narrowed our basic recommended mods down to a set of steps that are easy to follow and give good results without any engine disassembly required. The parts used in these mods are as follows.

NOTE: ALL PRICES QUOTED HERE WERE CORRECT AT THE TIME OF WRITING, AND WILL BE UPDATED AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. THEY ARE TO BE TAKEN AS ESTIMATES ONLY. DUE TO FLUCTUATIONS IN THE AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR AND SO FORTH, WE SUGGEST YOU CALL FOR AN ACCURATE PRICE WHEN REQUIRED. ALL GIVEN PRICES INCLUDE GST.

Programmable eproms for fuel injected Ducatis come from FIM. FIM also supplies non programmable eproms for BMW and some of the early FI Ducatis. For the new fuel injected 900SS, 750 SS and Monster models, which do not have replaceable eproms, FIM offer remapped flashloads for these ECU's. This is modified software that is downloaded into the bike's ECU to replace the standard software. The modifications made are to the fuel ( and in some cases spark ) maps depending on the engine specification or mods.

The eproms cost $238, and the flashloads cost $242. Reflashloaded ECU we have sold for 900SS, 750 SS and Monster models can be reprogrammed to suit any additional engine mods at any time ( or back to std ) for no extra charge. FIM also offer a full money back guarantee on all their products ( not that we have had to give any money back in the 6 years I have been using them).

Jet kits for Ducati models come from Factory Performance in the USA. These kits come with replacement needles, diaphragm springs, main and pilot jets and assorted screws. These kits cost around $195, depending on the model.

When we fit a jet kit, we also replace the needle jets ( what the needle slides up and down in ). These jets wear at totally unpredictable rates, so replacing them is the only way we can be sure of achieving the intended result. These needle jets cost $108 a pair. Not cheap, but better done when the carbs are apart. Labour charges for fitting a jet kit are usually $120.

Adjustable cam pulleys are used for all our cam timing mods. These come from VeeTwo. These pulleys offer infinite adjustment of cam timing in a very easy to use style, plus a variety of colours ( not that you can see them ).

These cost $120 each. We charge cam dialing as a complete job, coming in at $470 for 2 valve Ducatis, and $760 for 4 valve Ducatis. This includes all parts and labour, except an FIM eprom if required.

Aftermarket air filters come in two styles to suit the varying models. This is because all Ducatis from 1987, with the exception of the 748/916/996 series, use the same air filter.

For the SS, Monster and ST2/4 ranges, a kit is available from Ducati Performance containing a K&N FILTER and an open airbox lid. This open lid is nothing more than a standard airbox lid with the top cut out at the factory. For $172, however, it is good value. The K&N filter's main advantage is that it is washable and therefore reusable. The advantage of the open airbox lid is that you still have your original lid to refit should you want to. A standard lid costs around $35, should you decide to buy one to cut up instead ( or to replace your previously cut up lid should the need arise ).

For the 748/916/996 series, a filter made by John Hackett Performance is available which sits under the fuel tank over the inlet trumpets. This allows you to remove the standard filters should you wish. These cost $185.

Sprockets of varying sizes come from Ducati or Ducati Performance, depending on what you require. Alloy sprockets for some models are also available from Ducati Performance. A standard style 14 tooth sprocket for most models is around $50.

Exhausts come from many places, as most of you would be aware. Prices vary wildly depending on type of bike, style of exhaust and materials used. Any inquiries for exhausts should be made to Bob or Stephen in the Spare Parts department. Of the local manufacturers, who I like to support, Staintune and Megacycle both offer quality products with dyno proven results that I have seen.

In addition to the Ducati Performance parts I have listed above, their range of parts extends to pretty much anything you could want for a Ducati.

The Spare Parts Department has catalogues for all models that prospective buyers can peruse at will. The Monster catalogue in particular includes some very wild gear.
